Image-Guided Superficial Radiation Therapy — IGSRT, offered under the name GentleCure — uses low-energy X-rays to destroy skin cancer cells without cutting or removing healthy tissue. Ultrasound imaging guides every step, so your dermatologist can see the depth of the tumor and watch it clear.
It is delivered in our office by a radiation therapist working with your dermatologist. No operating room, no anesthesia, and no wound to care for afterward.
IGSRT treats basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma — the two most common skin cancers. It is not a treatment for melanoma. If surgery is the better option for your tumor, our surgical dermatology team, including Mohs surgery, is in the same practice.

Imaging and diagnosis
High-resolution ultrasound shows the size and depth of the tumor, so treatment is planned around what is actually there.
Targeted treatment
Low-dose X-ray energy, similar in strength to a dental X-ray, is aimed at the cancer and stops short of the healthy tissue underneath.
Gradual clearance
Short visits of about ten minutes, several times a week. Imaging along the way confirms the tumor is shrinking.
