Losing weight and keeping it off is hard to do alone, and willpower is rarely the missing piece. Our physicians offer a medical weight-loss program that treats weight the way we treat any long-term condition: with an evaluation, a plan built around you, medication when it is appropriate, and regular follow-up.
Weight loss with GLP-1 and GLP-2 medications
For patients who qualify, we prescribe and manage GLP-1 and GLP-2 medications, including semaglutide and tirzepatide. These once-weekly injections act on the hormones that control appetite and fullness, so you feel satisfied with less food and cravings quiet down. Combined with nutrition and activity guidance, most patients see steady, meaningful weight loss over the first six to twelve months.
Who is a candidate
- Adults who have tried to lose weight with diet and exercise alone
- A BMI in the range where medication is indicated, or weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, prediabetes or sleep apnea
- No medical history that makes these medications unsafe — reviewed at your consultation
Candidacy is decided at the consultation, based on your health history, BMI and lab work. Not everyone is a candidate, and we will tell you if a different approach is safer.
What to expect
- Consultation and baseline labs
- A starting dose, increased gradually to limit side effects
- Monthly check-ins for dose adjustments, side-effect management and progress, in person or by phone
- A maintenance plan when you reach your goal, so results last
Side effects and safety
Nausea, fullness and digestive changes are common in the first weeks and usually ease as the dose settles. Your physician screens for the conditions in which these medications should not be used and follows you throughout treatment.
Cost and insurance
The consultation is a medical visit and is usually covered by insurance. Coverage for the medication itself varies by plan; we review your options and costs, including self-pay, before anything is prescribed.
After weight loss
Significant weight loss can leave loose or sagging skin on the face, neck, arms and abdomen. As dermatologists, we also offer skin-tightening and other cosmetic treatments once your weight is stable, so the same team can care for you from the first consultation onward.
